A fateful Encounter is my first published story. It was submitted to the Sixth National Short Story Contest conducted by Polar Expressions Publishing, a small publisher in Maple Ridge, British Columbia. My story didn't win any awards but was chosen as one of the limited number (less than one third of the total entries) published in The Sun Shall Rise: A New Collection of Canadian Short Stories, edited by Rachelle McCallum. It was published in November, 2013.
The 750 word story was inspired by a real event, my observation of an obese man and a woman in a wheel chair in the check-out queue of a grocery store. The description of the two people and the story I developed, however, are entirely imaginary.
